Hackensack Commercial Real Estate

Recently the Hackensack City Council introduced an ordinance that will adopt the “Lot C” Redevelopment Plan. The plan is to transform the municipal parking lot located by Bowler City and The Ice House into a mixed residential and retail building. Mayor John Labrosse said “Lot C is another piece of property in the city that's exciting for several reasons, No. 1 – the city owns it. We are making some money on parking but certainly not what we would be making if it was developed which we're sure it will be.”
The plan outlines the permitted land uses for the lot, including: residential uses such as multi-family, apartments, condominiums, town homes and residence halls over retail, commercial and parking structures. The city has seen interest from developers and see it as a positive sign of the city's redevelopment.
Labrosse said, “From what I understand there are quite a from developers interested in this property and the more there are the more competition they'll be getting, the better it is for the city...That whole piece of property will be going on the tax rolls, plus it will still be a parking lot. Instead of an open space parking lot, there will be a parking deck there – still enough to take car of Bowler City and the hockey rink who lease our spots, still take care of the public and still take care of the residents in the building that will be going up there. So this is a really great project for the city.”
